What’s your favorite part of Thanksgiving day? Is it the turkey, pumpkin pie, football games, parade, turkey trot, or spending time with loved ones? There’s so much to love about Thanksgiving…and so much to be thankful for! If you have little ones at home, you might be wondering what you can do to make the day extra special and memorable for them. They might be too young to help in the kitchen or understand the football game this year, but we’ve found some really fun family games that we think everyone will enjoy!

Turkey Tag

Turkey tag is somewhat of a toddler-friendly alternative to flag football, with a Thanksgiving twist. Each family member will attach three “turkey” clothespins to their shirt, and then everyone will run around and try to snatch the clothespins from each other. The last person standing with a clothespin is the winner!

Thankful Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt can be as simple as walking around the house and sharing what you’re thankful for. Another idea is to have everyone start in a central location, such as the living room, and challenge them to find different objects they’re thankful for (something you’re thankful for that is blue, something you’re thankful for that is shiny, etc.).

Pie in the Face!

If you’re looking for a hilarious and semi-messy Thanksgiving game, this is it! You’ll need some foil pin tins, gummy letters, and a LOT of whipped cream! Choose a festive phrase, such as pie or thankful, and add the necessary gummy letters to a pie plate for every player. Cover up the letters with whipped cream, then have the players race to see who can get the letters out first and spell the correct word. There’s just one catch…you can only use your mouth to dig through the whipped cream!

Would You Rather? Thanksgiving Edition

This simple game will guarantee an entertaining dinner conversation. Fill a jar with Thanksgiving-themed would you rather questions, and take turns picking a question and sharing your answer.  Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

Would you rather…

  • Eat pumpkin pie or pecan pie?
  • Eat turkey or ham?
  • Wrestle an elephant-sized turkey or 100 turkey-sized elephants?

Shake Your Feathers

Everyone gets to be a turkey for this game! You’ll need a few empty tissue boxes, craft feathers, and string to tie the box around your waist. Once everyone has their feathers tied to them, see who can shake their feathers out the fastest!

Happy Thanksgiving!
