Spring has sprung, and summer will be here before we know it. With sunny days here to stay, it’s a great time to get outside with your little one and soak up some vitamin D. Here are a few activities to inspire you to get outside!
Free Play
Toddlers don’t need structured activities to have a blast outside. Give them an opportunity for their imaginations to run wild, and they will! The great outdoors is the perfect environment for free play. With so much space to run around, your toddler can wander to wherever their creative mind takes them. Maybe they’ll be a dragon, a mermaid, or a dinosaur! You might even find that their imagination is more free to run wild if you sit back and simply observe their play.
Sidewalk Chalk
Chalk is a great activity for kids of all ages, but it’s even fun for toddlers who aren’t quite comfortable with writing yet. Be sure to keep a close eye on them…chalk looks appetizing to little ones!
Water Games
Turn on the sprinkler, fill up some buckets of water, bring out the sponges, or fill up the kiddie pool. There are so many ways to have fun with water. Toddlers might enjoy pouring water from one cup to another, or soaking up sponges and squeezing them into a bucket. Or they simply might want to run around while the sprinkler works its magic. The most important thing is that they’re having fun.
Sensory Bins
Sensory bins are a fun way for toddlers to explore things in a new way. Set up a sensory bin outside, and enjoy the fresh air while your child explores. Check out these easy water sensory bins for toddlers.
These outdoor activities are just a starting place; find an activity that your toddlers loves! Maybe that’s a nature walk, cloud gazing, collecting rocks, or playing catch! The important thing isn’t what you’re doing; it’s that you’re getting outside and having fun.
